As municipal governments go about their business of providing services to the community it becomes very obvious that their most important resources are their human resources.  The City of Garland takes pride in providing a municipal workforce full of highly dedicated, caring, and professional employees.  It is the mission of the Human Resources department to attract, develop, and help retain a diverse workforce capable of providing quality services to the citizens of Garland.    The Human Resources department takes this mission very seriously and supports a number of employment ideals and functions dedicated toward helping the City workforce be the best it can be.

    Functions:
  • The Employment function handles all aspects of recruiting and hiring of new employees.  HR department employees process numerous employment transactions daily.
  • Classification and compensation of positions is an on-going process as we attempt to handle the ever-changing needs of City departments.
  • Employee Relations handles the many aspects of our workforce productivity including coordination of our employee assistance program.
  • Our computerized Human Resource system is a dynamic computerized system for maintaining complete and accurate employee information and the efficient processing of payroll.
  • Training and Development is an important part of enhancing employee job skills and performance and provides a number of on-going and new training opportunities.
