Biography

Margaret Lucht, District 5 City Council member, was sworn in for her first term in 2022.

Mrs. Lucht is a lifelong resident of District 5 in Garland. She attended Williams Elementary, Sam Houston Middle School, and graduated from South Garland High School. 

She received an AS in biology from Dallas College. She is a Certified Dental Technician with a specialty in ceramics and operated Precision Ceramics Dental Laboratory from 2003-2021. She is currently a human resources administrator for a small business in District 5. 

In 2005, she purchased a condemned home and renovated it with her father. She is married to Jonas Lucht, and they spend time on home improvement projects. They have two dogs, Brian and Ivan, and a cat, Sophia. Margaret enjoys time with friends and family, has a pottery studio, makes alcohol ink art paintings, and loves to cook. 

She became passionate about volunteering and community involvement when she was appointed to the Garland Parks and Recreation Board in 2016. She was elected Vice Chair and also served on the Tree Board. In 2021, she was appointed to the Garland Plan Commission. 

Margaret Lucht is dedicated to improving District 5 and making Garland a safer, more enjoyable place to live, work, and play.
